Epic Games acquires Mediatonic studio, developers of battle royale Fall Guys

With Epic Games it has been clear on more than one occasion that when it sets its sights on something, it goes for it headlong. This has been demonstrated once again after officially announcing that it has just bought Mediatonic, the studio responsible for developing games like Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout.

Fall Guys
Epic Games is buying Tonic Games Group, the parent company of the Mediatonic studio, for an undisclosed amount. The Steam version of Fall Guys will continue to be available.

The amount Epic Games has paid has not transcended at the time of writing the news. Even so, both companies have wanted to reassure all fans of the game by ensuring that this important new feature will not affect at all the versions that already exist on PlayStation consoles, the PC version on Steam and the future ones that will come to Nintendo Switch and Xbox.

Exactly the opposite will happen, because Mediatonic’s intention is to introduce more new features and functions to make the Fall Guys experience even more interesting. To do this he would like to have an account system or incorporate cross-play, as is already the case with Fortnite, and that is something he will work on together with Epic to make it available in the future.

In the same document, he has pointed out that he currently has nothing to announce about the fact whether Fall Guys will become free-to-play, leaving the doubt as to whether he will change his mind later or not. Otherwise, the Mediatonic team will remain the same as it is now, only that it will be supported by Epic Games for everything.
